SPRINGVILLE — Springville Community Academy (SCA), in collaboration with the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce (ICAC), is hosting a crucial community presentation on Internet and Social Media Safety for all of Lawrence County and surrounding areas on Monday, November 3, at 5:30 p.m. at the Springville Community Academy, at 126 Brick Street, in Springville.

The event was initiated after Springville Community Academy’s School Resource Officer (SRO) BJ Fulkerson reached out to the ISP ICAC section to arrange a program for students and parents.
Event Focus: Dangers, Detection, and Response
The seminar is designed to educate the community on the risks facing youth online. Experts from the ISP ICAC will present on:
- The Dangers of the Internet and Social Media for Young People.
- What parents can do to detect these dangers.
- How to respond if a child becomes a victim of online predators or exploitation.
The presentation will conclude with a
Q&A session, allowing parents to ask the investigators questions on topics they need more information on.
Special Guests and Law Enforcement Support
The event will feature special guests from local law enforcement and the judiciary to emphasize the serious nature of these crimes:
- Electronic Storage Detection K9 Titus.
- Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day.
- The Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office.
The event is open to all parents in Lawrence County and the surrounding areas.
