MITCHELL — Three individuals were arrested and now face multiple felony and misdemeanor drug charges after Probation Officers and Mitchell Police discovered cocaine, hypodermic syringes, and paraphernalia during a welfare check at a local residence.

The arrests occurred on Thursday, October 3, in the 400 block of East Vine Street, the residence of Robert Henderson, who is currently on probation.

Mitchell Police Officer Cody Grogan was called to the scene to assist Probation Officers, who had their firearms drawn on the three men: Robert Henderson, 39, Daigan Rayhill, 29, and Brandon Haley, 29.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the Probation Officers immediately observed a syringe, a small clear plastic baggie containing white powder, and a scale lying in plain view on the couch. Additional baggies, straws with residue, and another syringe were later found throughout the search.

The powder substance was field-tested and returned a positive result for cocaine. Residue on the small scale also tested positive for both cocaine and methamphetamine. In total, three separate baggies contained approximately 1.56 grams of a substance that tested positive for cocaine.

Henderson, 39, is facing charges of maintaining a common nuisance, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of a syringe.

Haley and Rayhill, both 29, are facing charges of visiting a common nuisance, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of a syringe.

Henderson and Rayhill stated that Haley had been sleeping on the couch where the bulk of the paraphernalia and drugs were found. All three men refused on-scene medical evaluation.

Deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department assisted in transporting the men to the Lawrence County Jail, where they were booked into custody.
