BEDFORD—A Lafayette man was sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction (DOC) on October 1, 2025, after a judge revoked his suspended sentence for failing to comply with the terms of his probation and Sex Offender registration requirements.
Willie Lee Richardson, 33, was sentenced by Judge Pro-Tem Robert Cline in Lawrence Superior Court I.

Richardson had previously pleaded guilty to child solicitation, a Level 4 felony, under a negotiated plea agreement. He was initially sentenced to six years in the DOC, with a portion of that time suspended to four years of supervised probation.
Following a violation of his probation terms and a new criminal offense, Richardson’s suspended sentence was revoked and ordered into immediate execution. Judge Cline sentenced Richardson to serve 1,825 days (approximately five years) in the DOC, with credit for 19 actual days spent in jail.
Senior Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Cummings emphasized the seriousness of the case.

“This office considers sex offenses some of the most serious cases we handle. A Sex Offender has special terms that he must follow, and Mr. Richardson chose not to follow those,” Cummings stated. “He is facing new criminal charges in Tippecanoe County, but still had obligations to the people of Lawrence County. He did not live up to those obligations, so prison was the appropriate result.”
Cummings also acknowledged the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office for its investigation into Richardson’s violation of his Sex Offender Registry terms.
