LAWRENCE CO. – A Bloomington man was arrested early Sunday morning after a traffic stop initiated by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department led to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
At approximately 1:09 a.m. on September 28, Lawrence County Deputy C. Pruett was conducting routine patrol on State Road 37 near the Wesley Chapel Road intersection when he observed a red Chevy passenger car traveling southbound with a non-functioning driver-side taillight.
Deputy Pruett initiated a traffic stop just north of Stevens Lane. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer immediately detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the car, which contained three occupants.
There were three occupants in the vehicle, including the driver, a front passenger, and a rear passenger. The rear passenger was identified as Jaden Grubb, 27, of Bloomington.

When the deputy asked if there were any illegal substances in the vehicle, the driver immediately held up a marijuana electronic cigarette. This visible evidence established probable cause for officers to search the car and its occupants.
After backup arrived, all three occupants were asked to exit the vehicle and were patted down for weapons. While searching Jaden Grubb, Sergeant Anderson observed an improvised plastic smoking device sticking out of his pocket.
Grubb was placed in handcuffs, and a search of his person revealed a white plastic container holding 1.1 grams of crystal meth.
Jaden Grubb was transported without incident to the Lawrence County Jail and faces the following charges of possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The marijuana electronic cigarette was confiscated, and the crystal meth and smoking device were photographed and placed into evidence. The other two occupants were released from the scene
