Robert E. Hicks, 89, of Bedford, passed away at 10:25 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born March 22, 1936, in Bedford, he was the son of Vernon O. and Ollie (Sproles) Hicks. He married Elizabeth “Lisa” Fuhrman on July 4, 1956, and she passed away on January 28, 2018. He retired from RCA as a test maintenance worker after 42 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Mathis Bough and husband, Scott, Diana Batchelor and husband, Andy, all of Bedford and Denise Bullock and husband, Mike, of Brownsburg; seven grandchildren, Lori McIntosh, Jason Mathis, Jennifer George, Krista Torgerson, Katie Cannon, Leah O’Gara, and Nathan Bullock; ten great-grandchildren, Adalynn McIntosh, Jaxon McIntosh, Layla Mathis, Sawyer Mathis, Ely Houston, Sailor Richason, Sawyer Richason, Amaya Morris, Caden Cannon, and Graham O’Gara; a sister, Alice Hartman, of Oolitic; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his siblings, and his son-in-law, Brian Mathis.
Private services are planned. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
