Obituary: Dustie Sims

1979 – 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dustie Sims, who left us suddenly on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the age of 45, in her home in Bedford, Indiana.

Dustie was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She had a gift for making people feel loved and remembered, whether through her radiant smile, infectious laughter, or thoughtful way of never forgetting a birthday.

Dustie enjoyed music of all kinds, especially country, and loved singing karaoke with family and friends. She was a lifelong participant in the Lawrence County Special Olympics, an athlete and family member, a cherished member of the First Chance Day Program, and actively involved in her church family at White River Baptist Church.

She is survived by her mother, Joy Stannard; her father, Dennis Sims; her siblings, Travis, Cory, April, Chad, Tisha, Levi, and Keelie; many nieces and nephews who adored her; and her loving grandparents, Joe and Presing Stannard.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Joan Stannard, and her paternal grandparents, Austin and Louise Sims.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at White River Baptist Church, 7705 Tunnelton Road in Bedford, on Monday, September 29, 2025. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., followed by the service at 5 p.m. officiated by Pastor Jim Russell and Pastor Millard Jones.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the beautiful life of Dustie Sims.

Cresthaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
