Abraham Insurance Services offers personal touch and local expertise in a call-center world

BEDFORD — In an era when many insurance customers find themselves routed through distant call centers, Abraham Insurance Services LLC in Bedford has built its reputation on something more old-fashioned: direct, personal service.

Owner Mike Parish, a Lawrence County native from Mitchell, has operated the agency at 1217 R Street since 2018, providing a wide range of coverage options, including auto, homeowners, life, health, business, recreational vehicle, pet, and identity theft insurance. The business, formally established in 2019, has steadily grown into a trusted resource for families and small businesses across Lawrence County.

Parish said the insurance industry has changed dramatically in recent decades, with global call centers competing for customers in ways that often blur the lines of transparency. “It wasn’t like this 20 years ago. Now there are call centers all over the world. Many of these places operate through a loophole without the proper license, and aren’t supposed to be ‘knocking on doors.’ They hook people without full disclosure,” he said.

He contrasted that approach with the personal service his agency provides. “I take care of my customers. Over half my business is by word of mouth. You will never speak to the same person twice at a call center. You will never know who you are going to talk to. With Abraham, you speak to me directly.”

That personal touch, combined with a comprehensive portfolio of services, has helped Abraham Insurance earn an A+ rating and accreditation from the Better Business Bureau. In addition to standard policies, the agency offers voluntary benefits for businesses with fewer than 100 employees — including disability, life, dental, vision, legal plans, identity theft protection, hospital indemnity, and pet insurance. The firm also assists seniors with Medicare enrollment and provides medical monitoring services for high-risk individuals at home.

Clients frequently praise the agency for tailoring policies to individual circumstances and for helping them navigate confusing insurance terminology. Parish, who has more than 35 years of industry experience, sees education as central to his role.

As Abraham Insurance Services continues to grow, Parish says the focus will remain on serving the local community with honesty and accessibility, values that he believes set the business apart from competitors operating far from southern Indiana.
