Sergeant Aaron Pfaff promoted to first sergeant 

PENDLETON – Superintendent Anthony Scott announced the promotion of Sergeant Aaron Pfaff to the rank of First Sergeant. First Sergeant Pfaff will serve as the Assistant Commander of the Pendleton Post. He was selected from a group of candidates through a competitive process that included a written test, an oral interview, and an overall evaluation of his job performance.

First Sergeant Pfaff

First Sergeant Pfaff is a native of Willow Branch, Indiana, and a 2000 graduate of Eastern Hancock High School. After high school, he attended Indiana State University, where he majored in Criminology. Pfaff also served in the National Guard and was deployed to Bosnia during his senior year of college. He was selected to attend the 67th Indiana State Police Academy and graduated in 2007. His first duty assignment was to the Indianapolis Post. He has been a member of the Mobile Field Force Team, a field training officer, a hostage crisis negotiator, and a member of the methamphetamine suppression team. In 2013, he was selected to the ISP Motorcycle Patrol, where he served until 2018. While on the motorcycle team, he participated in many diplomatic escorts for presidents and vice presidents as they visited Indiana. In 2018, he returned to the Indianapolis District and patrolled Hancock County and the east side of Marion County. In 2022, Pfaff was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was responsible for supervising and mentoring a squad of troopers assigned to the Indianapolis District.

In his new role, First Sergeant Pfaff will assist the District Commander with the day-to-day operations and administrative duties at the Pendleton District.

First Sergeant Pfaff currently resides in Hancock County with his wife and his daughter.
