Woman detained for fleeing from accident scene after flipping SUV and striking utility pole

ELNORA – The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department arrested an Elnora woman on Sunday for leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Lisa Marie Goins, 34, was released from the Daviess County Security Center after posting a $5,000 bond.

Emergency crews were called early Sunday morning after a black SUV was found wrecked and partially on railroad tracks near County Roads 1400 North and 550 East. According to deputies, the vehicle appeared to have flipped and struck a utility pole, bringing down live wires. CSX was notified, and rail traffic was halted until the area was cleared.

Briggeman’s Wrecker removed the heavily damaged SUV, while REMC crews secured the downed lines.

The driver, who had left the scene, was later located and taken into custody by deputies. She was transported to Daviess Community Hospital for medical clearance before being booked into the Daviess County Security Center.
