BPD arrests man who allegedly threatened others with knife during argument

BEDFORD — A Bedford man was arrested early Monday morning following a domestic dispute where he allegedly threatened a person with a knife.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Bedford Police Officer Joshua Turner, officers were dispatched to an apartment at Rainbow Hills Apartments, around 1:53 a.m., for a report of a domestic dispute. The female caller told dispatch that Mack Morris, 36, had threatened her with a knife.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the woman, who said that Morris had been drinking and had threatened her and others at the apartment.

A witness told police he heard the woman and Morris arguing and opened his bedroom door to ask them to stop, and that is when he saw Morris pull a knife and threaten the woman. He immediately shut his door out of fear.

Morris was read his Miranda rights and initially declined to speak with the police. He later agreed to talk but denied threatening anyone with a knife, claiming it was only a verbal argument.

Morris was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Jail on a charge of intimidation with a deadly weapon.
