Bedford man arrested on drug charges following child sex abuse investigation

BEDFORD — A Bedford man was arrested on Monday, September 8, on charges of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, stemming from an investigation into the possession of child sex abuse material. Kevin Edwards, 38, was taken into custody after a search warrant was executed at his residence.

The investigation began in August 2025 by Detective Robert Whyte of the Indiana State Police’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit. Using various investigative techniques, Edwards was identified as a suspect.

During the search of Edwards’s home, investigators located suspected illegal narcotics and paraphernalia, which presumptively tested positive for methamphetamine. Edwards was arrested without incident.

He was transported to the Lawrence County Jail and charged with one count of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony, and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

The examination of Edwards’s electronic devices by forensic examiners is ongoing, and the investigation into the possession of child sex abuse material remains active. The Indiana ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation and enticement crimes against children to NCMEC or their local law enforcement agency.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
