Providence tops BNL in four sets

CLARKSVILLE – Providence extended its winning steak to four straight matches with a four-set victory over Bedford North Lawrence during high school volleyball action on Monday night.

The Pioneers (9-9) posted a 25-9, 23-25, 25-14, 25-20 triumph.

Sammie Gratzer paced BNL’s attack with 10 kills and 2 blocks, Lily Mischler added 7 kills, Trinidy Bailey had 12 digs, Jenna Allen recorded 11 digs, and Sara Williams had two service aces.

”Providence is a great program with great leadership, a young group of girls which promises success for years to come,” BNL coach Aaron Wagoner said. “We got off to a slow start to a very tough serving group. We had a hard time controlling the ball at first.

”We fixed it and competed the rest of the time. We won set 2 and were competitive in the rest. Very proud of these girls, their effort, and belief in themselves and each other.”

The Stars (5-6) will host New Albany on Tuesday.
