INDIANA – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has named Brandt Baughman as the new director of Indiana State Parks. Baughman is a longtime veteran of the park system, bringing decades of experience to his new leadership role.

Baughman’s career with Indiana State Parks began at Spring Mill State Park, where he worked as a lifeguard while growing up in Mitchell. After earning a degree from Ball State University, he returned to the division as an assistant property manager at Ouabache State Park. He then transferred to Spring Mill, where he worked for nearly 11 years.
His journey continued with a 13-year stint as the property manager at Indiana Dunes State Park before being promoted to north region manager. In 2021, Baughman took on the role of deputy director of operations for the division.
As director, Baughman will lead the state park team in its mission to conserve and manage park resources while providing engaging experiences for all visitors.
