The burning of another’s belongings lands woman in jail

BEDFORD— A 911 call reporting a woman was burning belongings landed a woman in jail after resisting police officers.

The incident was reported on Friday, August 15.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Sgt. Whitney Daugherty-Anderson of the Lawrence County Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence on Bartlettsville Road after a 911 call reported a woman was burning her belongings. This caller was in a relationship with the suspect, Heather Walton.

Upon arrival, officers located Walton, 28, sitting in a black car near a burning barrel. The affidavit states that Walton was non-compliant and resisted when officers attempted to detain her, pushing herself away and screaming. After being warned, she eventually complied and was placed in handcuffs.

Walton was transported to the Lawrence County Jail and booked on the charge of resisting law enforcement. The Department of Child Services was also notified.
