City of Mitchell urges residents to remove inoperable vehicles

MITCHELL The City of Mitchell’s Building Commissioner has identified a list of abandoned, inoperable, and non-plated vehicles for removal as part of an ongoing effort to improve community appearance. Property owners are being asked to take action to have these vehicles removed.

The city is encouraging owners to contact the building commissioner’s office with any questions or for recommendations on how to proceed. Officials noted that many local salvage yards will pay owners to pick up non-working vehicles, a service they are encouraged to utilize.

According to a notice released on August 20, the following vehicles have been identified for removal:

  • 1040 South Stevens Street: Gray vehicle
  • 319 West Grissom Avenue: Red truck
  • 923 Walker Addition: White truck
  • 480 Knott Street: Blue Dodge
  • 410 Rabbitsville Road: White Mercury
  • 410 West Hancock Avenue: Blue sports car
  • 204 South 9th Street: White truck on blocks
  • 204 South 9th Street: White car on blocks
  • 543 South 9th Street: Black Ford Fusion
  • 1003 Main Street: Gray Ford Escape
  • 722 West Hancock Avenue: White Nissan Altima
  • 722 West Hancock Avenue: Green bus
  • 113 East Grissom Avenue: Blue bus
  • 114 East Vine Street: Blue Chevy Blazer
  • 114 East Vine Street: White Kia Soul
  • 114 East Vine Street: Gray car
  • 202 East Grissom Avenue: Blue Ford
  • 202 East Grissom Avenue: Black Dodge truck
  • 349 Bartlett Drive: Yellow Mini
  • 1336 North 9th Street: Gray Dodge Dart
  • 420 Oak Street: Red Corvette

The commissioner extended gratitude to residents who have already taken steps to make Mitchell a more attractive place to live, work, and play.
