BLOOMINGTON — An 18-year-old woman has been arrested following a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning near the Indiana University Bloomington campus, leaving one person injured.
According to the Indiana University Police Department, officers responded to calls about a domestic-related incident at the intersection of 10th Street and Walnut Grove around 2:30 a.m.. Upon arrival, police found a person who had been shot in the leg and transported them to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the incident, IU issued an emergency alert advising students and staff to avoid the area.

The suspect, 18-year-old Chaice Stricklan, attempted to flee the scene in a gray 2010 Honda Accord. Officers described the vehicle, and it was later located by Morgan County deputies at a gas station in Martinsville around 3:44 a.m. Stricklan was taken into custody without incident and transported to Monroe County for questioning. Police have not released the female’s name.
IUPD officials stated that the victim and Strickland were known to each other, and neither is affiliated with Indiana University.
The incident is being considered an “isolated domestic incident,” and the suspect was preliminarily charged with aggravated battery and criminal recklessness.
The investigation is ongoing.
