BEDFORD — A Heltonville man was arrested on drug charges after a foot chase in Bedford on Wednesday, August 13.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer J. Landon Jones of the Bedford Police Department, Officer Jones was on patrol when he observed Eric S. King, 38, behaving erratically on Lincoln Avenue. Officer Jones, believing the man to be under the influence of methamphetamine, attempted to stop him.

The affidavit states that King fled, running through Shorty’s Den and Kindred Spirit’s parking lots before being apprehended with the assistance of other officers. During the pursuit, King allegedly resisted arrest.
After he was detained, officers located a bag containing two grams of crystal meth in the Shorty’s Den parking lot, which King admitted to having thrown. King also confessed to having used methamphetamine for a few days.
After being medically cleared at IU Health Bedford Hospital, King was transported to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of possession of meth, public intoxication, and resisting arrest.
