Domestic dispute ends with man resisting arrest and charged with battery

BEDFORD — A Bedford man was arrested on charges of domestic battery and resisting law enforcement following a domestic dispute that was reported on Tuesday night.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Joshua Turner of the Bedford Police Department, officers were dispatched to an apartment on O Street at approximately 11:43 p.m. A woman stated that Thomas Goen, 51, had just pulled her hair and fled the scene.

The woman and her son both told police that Thomas had been drinking throughout the day. They claimed he became argumentative and, after a period of napping, began arguing with the woman again. During the argument, he allegedly grabbed her by the hair, pulled it, and threw her.

When officers located Goen and attempted to transport him to the Lawrence County Jail, the affidavit alleges he resisted, yelling at the officer and trying to pull away.
