BEDFORD — A Bedford woman was arrested on charges of invasion of privacy, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on Tuesday night, August 13.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Taylor Daugherty of the Bedford Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 22nd Street after a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, Officer Daugherty and another officer made contact with the occupants, Riley Girdley and Autumn Daugherty, 25, of Bedford.

During the interaction, dispatch informed the officers that there was an active protection order between Autumn Daugherty and the male. When confronted, Autumn Daugherty claimed the order was no longer active, but officers confirmed it was.
Officers then retrieved a red backpack belonging to Daugherty from the vehicle and detected the odor of marijuana. A search of the backpack revealed marijuana and a homemade smoking device. The marijuana had a total weight of 24 grams.
Both individuals were read their Miranda warnings and admitted to meeting at the church to smoke marijuana.
Autumn Daugherty was transported to the Bedford Police Department for booking and then to the Lawrence County Jail for housing. Riley Girdley was issued a summons to appear in court and released from the scene.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the Probable Cause Affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
