WASHINGTON — Daviess Community Hospital will hold a free Car Seat Safety Clinic on Saturday, September 20, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the hospital’s parking lot, located across from Heartland OB/GYN.
Motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of death for children under the age of 14 in the United States. That’s why our Child Passenger Safety Program is committed to helping families and caregivers understand how to use and install child safety seats properly.

The clinic provides parents and caregivers with the opportunity to have their child’s car seat inspected by nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. Each appointment is approximately 30 minutes long and includes a hands-on review of proper installation, guidance on how to ensure the seat fits correctly, and tips for keeping children as safe as possible while riding in a vehicle.
The services the hospital provides include:
- Car Seat Checks by Certified CPSTs: Our nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) inspect your car seat to ensure it fits your child, is appropriate for their age and size, and is correctly installed in your vehicle.
- Replacement Car Seats: If eligibility criteria are met and supplies are available, caregivers may receive a replacement seat after completing educational instruction on proper use and installation.
- Donations Accepted: We welcome donations to help provide car seats to families in need.
- CPST Certification Courses: We host the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification Course throughout the year. This course is open to individuals in public safety, education, childcare, healthcare, or anyone passionate about child safety. Visit cert.safekids.org to learn more or contact us for local details.
- Community Car Seat Clinics: DCH offers several free car seat clinics throughout the year. These events are available by appointment or on a first-come, first-served basis and include hands-on help and printed educational materials.
- Event Participation: Our team is available to attend local community health and safety events upon request.
