SEYMOUR – A Seymour man was arrested on serious felony charges this week after a months-long investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Robert J. Schulz, 40, was taken into custody on Thursday, August 13th, following an investigation that began on February 10th. According to reports from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt./Detective Jesse Hutchinson initiated the investigation into a possible child sexual abuse case.
Over several months, Hutchinson conducted multiple interviews with a juvenile and collected evidence related to the case. This evidence led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Schulz.
After several attempts to locate the suspect, Schulz was finally found and arrested. He faces multiple felony charges, including eight counts of child molesting and domestic battery on a child under the age of 14, causing bodily injury.
He pleaded not guilty to the crimes, posted a $75,005 bond, and was released from the Jackson County Jail on August 15 at 2:23 p.m.
He is scheduled for a pretrial conference before Jackson Circuit Court Judge Richard W. Poynter on September 23 at 10:45 a.m., and a jury trial is scheduled for February 3, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
