Diattra Dawn Cook, 62, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born February 24, 1963, she was the daughter of Virgil Turpin and Mary Lou Speer. She married Mark Cook on November 28, 1980, and he survives.
Diattra was previously the Store Manager at Radio Shack and later a Commercial Lender at the Stone City Bank, now German American Bank. She had also served as the Lead Administrator at the Bloomington VA Clinic. Diattra loved flowers and was a very giving and charitable person. She was strong in her Christian faith.
Surviving to cherish Diattra’s memory is her husband, Mark; her mother, Mary Lou Speer; her daughter, Keisha (Troy) Hazard; stepdaughter, Destany (Jim) Pingle; one grandson, Lucas Pingle; one sister, Tricia (Phil) Lewis; four brothers, Ed (Pat) Roach, Ronald Turpin, Jeff Turpin, and Virgil Turpin; brother-in-law, Joe Cook; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Turpin, and one sister, Denise Turpin.
Funeral services for Diattra Dawn Cook will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes, 818 18th Street, Bedford, IN, with burial immediately following at Mundell Christian Cemetery in Heltonville, IN. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, August 20, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
