William ‘Bill’ Philpott of Bedford was called home with Jesus at 5:33 p.m. on August 12, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was of the Pentecostal Faith, and on June 20, 2025, he gave his heart to the Lord! Born September 9, 1958, in Bloomington, Indiana, Bill was the son of Ottis and Vena Mae (Chambers) Philpott. He had many stories about his deployment to Germany. He worked as a mechanic and could fix anything with a motor. He could almost always be found in the garage tinkering with a mower or tractor. He loved riding his Harley. His pride and joy were his grandbabies and his beagle, Little Lady, whom he raised from a few days old. His longtime friends are Kenny Radcliff, Ed Radcliff, and Dan Johns.
Survivors include his wife, of 46 years, Kathy; his three children, William ‘Billy’ (Elizabeth) Philpott, Robert ‘Bobby’ Philpott, and Amber (Michael) Staggs. His brothers are Denny (Suzette) Philpott of Switz City, Indiana, Jimmy (Marilyn) Philpott of Poland, Indiana, and Kenny Philpott of Bedford; his mother-in-law, Anna Goins, of Bedford; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, Jacob, Jared Fizer, Ashleigh Philpott, Lexie (Clayton) Evers, Brianna Philpott, William (Little Bill) Philpott, Bobby (Leah) Philpott, Emily Philpott, Ian Philpott, Megan Jeter, Cash Philpott, Elijah, Ava, Hannah, Madalyn, Callie Staggs; great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Nolan, Blake, Zoey, Savannah, Addilyn, and Keyona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Larry Philpott, and sisters Betty Grub and Judy Philpott.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Aaron Swafford officiating.
