CLARK/SCOTT CO. – The Indiana Department of Transportation design-build team E&B Paving, Inc., and Milestone Contractors Joint Venture is scheduled to begin preliminary work as part of the Safer Drive 65 project on I-65 in Clark and Scott counties.
On or after Monday, August 25, culvert repair work will begin just north of State Road 160 in Henryville (Exit 19). Drivers can expect shoulder closures and overnight lane closures along northbound and southbound I-65 near the 20-mile marker (MM 20) through late November, weather permitting.

On or after Monday, September 15, shoulder strengthening work will begin on northbound and southbound I-65 between MM 16, located just south of Henryville (Exit 19), and MM 24.5, located just north of Henryville (Exit 19). Drivers can expect shoulder closures and nighttime lane closures on northbound and southbound I-65 while work is in progress. These closures are anticipated to last until late October, weather permitting.
This work is preliminary as crews prepare for Phase 1 of the Safer Drive 65 project. The overall project is anticipated to be complete in 2028. INDOT will continue to provide information and updates as work progresses.
The Safer Drive 65 project will improve approximately 13 miles of I-65 between Blue Lick Road in Clark County and State Road 56 in Scott County. The project includes adding travel lanes, reconstructing pavement, and upgrading key infrastructure along the corridor. Additional information about the project can be found here.
