Troopers discover drugs in plain view during call for unconscious person in Garrett

GARRETT – Troopers with the Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Post were called to an unconscious person at 6841 County Road 7A when they noticed drugs and paraphernalia in plain view. The call happened on Saturday, August 2, 2025, just after 7:00 p.m..

After Troopers and Deputies with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department arrived on scene, they saw a female unconscious. While providing medical aid to her, they observed drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain view. The female was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. After obtaining a search warrant, they searched the residence and found suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana.

The following charges were filed with the DeKalb County Prosecutor’s Office against the owner of the home, Todd Thrush, 47, of Garrett. He is facing charges of possession of meth, a Level 6 felony, possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony, possession of a legend drug or precursor, a Level 6 felony, maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony, possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

The Indiana State Police Troopers were assisted by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department and Parkview EMS.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
