IU Kelley School of Business announces new admission requirements

BLOOMINGTON — The Indiana University Kelley School of Business has updated its admission standards for both current and prospective students. The changes affect students applying for standard admission and those seeking direct admission to the program.

For students applying for standard admission, the minimum grade requirement in pre-business courses is increasing. Students enrolling between summer 2025 and spring 2026 must now earn a B+ or higher in every IU course they are enrolled in to be considered for admission. This requirement will increase further to an A- for students enrolling from summer 2026 to spring 2027. This is a change from the previous requirement of a B grade.

Starting in fall 2026, the Kelley School will no longer offer automatic direct admission based solely on a student’s GPA and standardized test scores. The old requirement of a 3.8 GPA and a 1370 SAT or 30 ACT score will be replaced by a comprehensive review process.

To be considered for direct admission, applicants must now complete the Kelley Prospect Inventory (KPI) form, which is available in the IU Portal. The admissions team will then evaluate applicants based on their high school performance, the rigor of their coursework, academic accomplishments, and other indicators of success. The new process is intended to “ensure high-achieving students from all backgrounds are considered for direct admission,” according to the Kelley School website.
