SEYMOUR – Bedford North Lawrence finished second in the seven-team Seymour Invitational during girls high school golf action at Shadowood on Tuesday.

The Stars carded a team total of 338, falling to conference rival New Albany by one shot.

Sammie Nusbaum paced BNL with a 6-over 79 that featured four birdies, including three straight on holes 14-16. Kinleigh Root made her season debut with an 82 that included four birdies.

“That was not a bad round,” BNL coach Carly Stigall said. “We saw some great shots but also saw a lot of things we still need to work on.

”Sammie played pretty solid. She did well and stayed mentally tough to keep her score low. Emma (Voris) and Kadynn (Canada) also played steady and showed a lot of growth from last season.”

Voris posted a birdie on the fifth hole while carding 83, and Kadynn Canada capped the BNL scoring with 94.

The Stars will compete in the State Preview at Prairie View on Monday.
