Kyle Schwarber, Cody Zeller among those being inducted into the IU Athletics Hall of Fame

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University has announced the 2025 class of inductees into the IU Athletics Hall of Fame, with six former standout athletes set to be honored for their contributions to Hoosier sports.

Cody Zeller

IU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson confirmed the selections Thursday, led by former men’s basketball standout Cody Zeller, who played for the Hoosiers from 2011 to 2013 and was a key figure in IU’s return to national prominence during that time.

The Hall of Fame class also includes:

  • Meradith Dickensheets, a four-year letterwinner in rowing (2012–15),
  • Angel Escobedo, a four-time All-American and NCAA wrestling champion (2007–10),
  • Mel Groomes, a trailblazing football player who competed from 1944 to 1947,
  • Peggy Martin, a multi-sport athlete in field hockey, women’s basketball, and softball from 1969 to 1972,
  • Glenn Terry, a decorated men’s track and field athlete (1990–93).
Kyle Schwarber

Also selected for induction was former IU baseball slugger Kyle Schwarber, who starred for the Hoosiers from 2012 to 2014 and currently plays in Major League Baseball. However, due to the Hall of Fame policy requiring living inductees to be present at the ceremony, Schwarber has opted to defer his induction until a future date when his professional schedule permits his return to Bloomington.

The six honorees will be officially recognized during halftime of the Indiana vs. Kennesaw State football game on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Memorial Stadium.

The IU Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1982 to recognize the outstanding achievements of IU’s most distinguished student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.
