Temporary road closure at the intersection of S College Ave. and W 2nd St.

BLOOMINGTON— The City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) will begin sewer infrastructure improvements near the intersection of South College Avenue and West 2nd Street starting Sunday, August 3, 2025. The project will proceed in two phases to minimize disruption for nearby residents and businesses. These improvements are part of CBU’s ongoing efforts to modernize Bloomington’s sewer infrastructure and ensure long-term reliability.

Phase 1: CBU crews will close the intersection of S College Ave. and W 2nd St. beginning Sunday, August 3rd at 8:00 p.m. through Monday, August 4th at 6 a.m. During this overnight closure, crews will perform necessary upgrades to the sewer main before reopening the intersection by 6 a.m. Monday morning.

Phase 2: Beginning Monday, August 4th at 6 a.m., CBU will close W 2nd St. from the B-Line Trail to S College Ave. for continued sewer line improvements. This portion of the project is expected to last through Friday, August 15th. During this time, access to Kroger and Wendy’s will be maintained via S College Ave.

Final paving and full reopening of W 2nd St. are anticipated by August 15, pending weather and field conditions.

CBU appreciates the community’s patience and understanding during this important infrastructure upgrade. These temporary disruptions are critical to ensuring reliable service.
