WASHINGTON D.C. – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a safety recall for certain General Tire Altimax RT45 tires, size 235/60R18, manufactured by Continental Tire the Americas, LLC (CTA). The recall, identified by NHTSA Recall ID Number 25T013, addresses a critical safety concern regarding potential overcuring during the manufacturing process.

According to the recall synopsis, tires that have been overcured may be susceptible to tread separation or a break at the sidewall. Such a failure could lead to a sudden loss of air pressure, significantly increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
To remedy this safety defect, CTA dealers will replace the affected tires at no charge to the owners. Owner notification letters are anticipated to be mailed out on August 25, 2025.
Owners of General Tire Altimax RT45 tires, size 235/60R18, are urged to contact CTA customer service directly at 1-888-799-2168 for further information and to schedule their tire replacement.
This recall is being issued to individuals who have previously requested notification from NHTSA about tire safety recalls. Drivers are encouraged to verify if their tires are part of this recall to ensure their safety on the road.
