MITCHELL – A Mitchell man, Damien Robbins, 33, was arrested on drug-related charges after Lawrence County Police Department officers served an active arrest warrant at his residence.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Thomas Porter, officers were dispatched to Dixie Highway in Mitchell to serve a warrant for Robbins’ arrest.
Upon arrival, on March 29, 2025, Sgt. Compton reportedly knocked on the north door of the residence, but there was no answer. However, officers heard movement and talking inside. Officer Porter observed a male asleep on a couch through an open south door, which had a closed glass storm door. A female was then seen walking by and closing the main door, telling the male on the couch to get up because someone was at the residence.
After a few minutes, the south side porch light came on, and the door opened. Officer Porter identified the male as Damien Robbins. Robbins was immediately placed in hand restraints, as he was known to carry a firearm from a previous law enforcement contact. Robbins informed officers he was armed with a handgun in an appendix carry position, which Officer James safely removed.
During a search incident to the arrest warrant, Officer Porter located two small plastic baggies in Robbins’ left pocket. Robbins allegedly stated they were his “tabs” for medical use. His phone and firearm were handed over to his mother, who was at the residence. Robbins was then transported to the Lawrence County Security Center on the outstanding arrest warrant.
The two baggies seized were later identified. One contained 17 white oval-shaped pills with the stamp “M365,” consistent with hydrocodone, a Level II controlled substance. The other baggie contained a white powdery substance. This substance initially field tested positive for fentanyl and cocaine and weighed seven grams in its original packaging on an uncalibrated scale.
On July 11, 2025, Officer Porter checked lab results from the Indiana State Police Lab, which confirmed the seized items included hydrocodone, Tylenol, and fentanyl. The confirmed weight of the fentanyl seized was 6.93 grams.
As a result of the findings, Damien Robbins has been charged with possession of cocaine with an enhancing circumstance, a Level 4 felony, and possession of a Level II controlled substance with an enhancing circumstance, a Level 6 felony. He was detained on Wednesday, July 23.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
