Chris Doyle Hawkins, 33, of Norman, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his residence.

Chris was born in Bloomington on May 29, 1992, to Malinda Hawkins. Chris was the owner of Backwoods Customs Tree Service.

Survivors include his mother, Malinda Hawkins; one daughter, Marissa Hawkins; one sister, Amber Stroud; one niece, Scarlett Biddix; and grandfather, Ellis Hawkins.

Chris was preceded in death by his grandmother, Elnora Denney, and great-grandmother, Barbara Seabolt.

He lived life the country way—simple, honest, and always there when you needed him. If your car was in a ditch at 2 a.m., he was already on his way with a chain and a grin. That’s just who he was. My mom told me that he once spent his last penny to buy camping gear for a homeless boy, just to make sure the kid had what he needed. No credit, no show—just his heart doing what it does. As his sister, I could tell you a million other stories like that—just ask.

He fought through more than most knew and still loved with everything he had, even if he didn’t always say it. Peace for him was a ride on his bike or standing at the pond, line in the water. He took his daughter on rides, and she loved it—just being with him, sharing what made him feel free. Life didn’t always deal him the best hand, but anyone who knew him knew he’d wheel and deal with it, turn it into a new buy-in, just to share his winnings.

Son, brother, father, friend, you were loved more than you ever knew. Not a day will pass without missing you.

Though we’re apart now, I trust the Lord is witness between us and watches over our coming and going, now and always.

Until we meet again—rest easy, ride free, and keep doing things the country way.
