According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Chief Troy Lobosky, dispatch received a call at approximately 11:00 p.m. on July 16th from a male, reporting that Edward Allen Haste had physically assaulted him and broken a window with a bat at his residence located on South Meridian Road.

Upon arrival, Chief Lobosky observed a shattered back door window with glass scattered on the porch. According to police, Haste appeared agitated and made comments about wanting to move and his “401K that has millions in it.”

The male victim alleged that Edward had struck him in the upper chest with both clenched fists, causing pain and leaving visible redness. The victim, who also has a pacemaker, stated he wanted to press charges.

In a written statement provided later by the male victim, it was detailed that Edward came to the back door, rattled it, and then broke the glass before the male victim could unlock it. Edward then allegedly re-entered the house and began throwing papers from a suitcase. When the male victim told him to stop and stated he wanted to go back outside, Edward allegedly hit him simultaneously with clenched fists, knocking him back. The victim further stated that he was afraid to try and leave. The victim then went into a bedroom to call 911.

Edward Allen Haste was arrested and transported to jail without incident. He is facing the following charges: criminal confinement, a Level 6 felony; domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor; and criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor.

A Probable Cause Affidavit outlines the initial findings and allegations that led to an arrest. Criminal charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
