Thomas Richard Fletcher, age 81, of Bedford, passed away at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at his residence.
Born June 12, 1944, Tom was the son of Bertram and Eva (Burford) Fletcher. He married Nancy Thomas on April 23, 1967, and she survives. Tom was a member of the Pinhook Church of Christ and was a 1962 graduate of Tunnelton High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and subsequently received training, becoming an electronics technician. After his discharge from the Army, he became an Electronics Technician at Crane, where he continued to serve for 41 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Gillen Post 33, where he served on the Honor Guard.
However, his greatest passion was being a devoted family man.
Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy Fletcher; two daughters, Kathy (Thomas) Darling and Melissa Miskuf; grandchildren, Zachary Darling, Nathaniel Darling, Fletcher Miskuf, and Aaron Miskuf; sisters-in-law, Patty Fletcher, Ruby Fletcher Robinson, Juanita Thomas, and Jane (Don) Turpen; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Fletcher; granddaughter, Lillian Darling; his parents, Bertram and Eva Fletcher; brothers, Dale Fletcher, Duane Fletcher, Michael Fletcher, and George Fletcher; and one sister, Jeanine Spaulding.
Funeral services for Thomas Richard Fletcher will be held at noon on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Brother Walter Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinhook Cemetery with military rites accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post 33 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at noon, also at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
