Motorcyclist killed in crash on State Road 45 in Monroe County

BLOOMINGTON — A motorcyclist was killed Saturday evening following a collision at the intersection of West State Road 45 and Airport Road in Monroe County.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 6:08 p.m. on July 5. When deputies and emergency personnel arrived on the scene, they found the motorcyclist had sustained fatal injuries.

According to investigators, the crash involved a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a Chevrolet Cruze. The motorcyclist, identified as 24-year-old Hunter Warthan of Bedford, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze was identified as 19-year-old Victoria Lewis of Spencer, Indiana.

Authorities closed the intersection from 6:08 p.m. until approximately 8:30 p.m. while crash reconstructionists examined the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
