Obituary: Sandra Jo Heideman

November 13, 1943 – June 26, 2025

Sandra Jo Heideman, 81, of Seymour, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at her home, with her husband by her side.

Born on November 13, 1943, in Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of Joseph F. and Beatrice Gertrude (Collins) Wehlage. Sandra was a 1961 graduate of Muncie Central High School and earned a degree from Indiana University. She spent many years working in healthcare as an administrator for various hospitals and nursing homes in Bloomington, Madison, and Seymour. She married Harold E. Heideman on September 25, 1999, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, IN. They were happily married for twenty-six years

Above all, Sandra cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her love for her husband Harold, her children, and her grandchildren was unwavering. Sandra had a gentle, loving spirit. She loved people and was always ready to help anyone in need. She enjoyed cooking, canning, and raising her Shelties, horses, and mini cows. A loyal friend to many, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Harold; her children, Daniel Drummond, Tommy Drummond, Jamie Drummond, Bob (Lisa) Heideman, Lewie (Amy) Heideman, Gina (Jeff) Gardner, and P.K. Pate; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Jordan, Derrick, Amanda, Andrea, and Savannah; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Waylon; and one brother, David (Joann) Wehlage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Betty Wehlage, and one brother, Michael S. Wehlage.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, located within Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Seymour, with Reverend Philip Bloch officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service, also on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made in Sandra’s memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Humane Society of Jackson County.
