BEDFORD – Gage M. Taylor, 23, of Bedford, was arrested on Tuesday, June 24, following an alleged domestic disturbance at his residence in the 1000 block of 13th Street. Taylor faces charges of domestic battery.

According to an affidavit for probable cause filed by Bedford Police Department Officer Bailey Duprey, dispatch received a 911 emergency call from the address on Tuesday, June 25. The caller quickly hung up, stating there was no issue.
Upon arrival, Officer Duprey encountered a male at the front door who informed the officer that Taylor had assaulted him and threatened him with a box knife, expressing a desire to press charges.
Taylor was found in the basement and, after some hesitation, complied with officers. He initially denied any physical altercation, stating that an argument with the male about moving had escalated, leading to him throwing drinks and breaking ceramic dishes.
However, the male alleged that Taylor had struck him once in the chest with a closed fist and once in the face near his chin, and also threatened him with a box knife. The male agreed to sign a battery affidavit.
Taylor was placed under arrest. At that point, he reportedly admitted to lying earlier about the physical altercation and expressed a desire to pursue charges himself.
Marijuana was collected from Taylor’s bed and submitted for destruction.
Gage Taylor was placed in the custody of the Lawrence County Jail.
A Probable Cause Affidavit outlines the initial findings and allegations that led to an arrest. Criminal charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
