JACKSON CO. – A devastating accident involving a farm tractor in Redding Township on Monday evening has claimed the lives of two individuals: a 68-year-old woman and a 4-year-old child.
According to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to a reported accident in Redding Township around 7:40 p.m. on Monday. Deputies, along with personnel from Jackson County EMS, the Redding Volunteer Fire Department, and the Seymour Fire Department, responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, emergency officials discovered that a 68-year-old woman and a 4-year-old had been struck by a farm tractor. The young child was transported to a Seymour hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The 68-year-old woman was airlifted by helicopter to a Louisville hospital for treatment, but tragically succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning.
“Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all involved,” said Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer in the release.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has not released the identities of the deceased as the accident remains under investigation.
