BEDFORD — The Rotary Club of Bedford invites the community to enjoy great food and support meaningful local service projects at its annual Dr. Dan Schafer Memorial Fish Fry, scheduled for Friday, June 27, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Bedford Knights of Columbus, located at 2202 M Street.
A beloved summer tradition, the event features a full menu of fried fish and chicken, a variety of sides, desserts, and refreshments. For added convenience, a drive-through service will also be available.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $7 for children ages 6–12, and free for children under 6. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Copy Trolley, the Bedford Chamber of Commerce, from any Rotary Club member, or at the door on the day of the event. Alcoholic beverages will also be available for purchase separately.
The evening will also include a silent auction with a diverse selection of items up for bid. Bidding will close at 6:45 p.m., and winners must be present to claim their prizes. The auction provides an excellent opportunity to take home unique items while supporting a worthy cause.

The Fish Fry and Silent Auction serve as major fundraisers for the Rotary Club of Bedford, a civic organization that has been serving Lawrence County since 1919. As part of Rotary International, the world’s largest and oldest community service organization, the Bedford Club lives out the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self.”
Proceeds from the event directly support a variety of Rotary-led community initiatives, including:
- Books for all kindergarten students in Lawrence County
- Scholarships for high school seniors
- Rotary Youth Leadership Awards weekend at Bradford Woods
- Rotary Youth Exchange Program
- Monthly senior recognition from Bedford North Lawrence and Mitchell high schools
- The annual John Williams Scholarship Toast
- A Lawrence County history book gifted to all 4th graders
- Teacher supply drives, and more
The club also proudly sponsors an Interact Club at Bedford North Lawrence High School, helping students get involved in service projects from a young age.
By attending the Fish Fry, community members not only enjoy a delicious meal and an engaging evening, but also directly contribute to programs that enrich the lives of students, teachers, and families across Lawrence County.
