Robert “Bob” D. Rude, 66, of Seymour, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Schneck Medical Center.
Born on January 27, 1959, in Seymour, Indiana, he was the son of Marion Robert and Dorothy Ann (Gerth) Rude. Bob was a 1977 graduate of Seymour High School. He worked first as a lineman for the railroad. He was also a groundskeeper for Hickory Hill and Otter Creek golf courses, and later worked as a security guard in Seymour and Columbus for many years.
Bob was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He was a 3rd-degree black belt in Taekwondo and also taught Taekwondo in Columbus. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hiking, swimming, riding his bicycle, and riding his motorcycle. He was a Mopar enthusiast, and he enjoyed his Plymouth Barracuda and Road Runner. Bob enjoyed being at home and spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by his brother, Richard “Rick” (Donna) Rude of Seymour, IN; his sisters, Carol Killion of Seymour, IN, and Teresa (Corky) Miranda of Brownstown, IN; nieces, Adrienne Mousa, Jessica Killion Arvin, Kelsey Bowling and Sara LeMarr; nephew, Ryan Rude; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Dorothy Rude; his sister, Cheryl Stout; his brother, Thomas Rude; his niece, Melissa LeMarr; and his nephew, Jared Rude.
Funeral services for Bob will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, at the Burkholder Chapel of Thorne George Family Funeral Homes, 419 N. Chestnut St, Seymour, with Deacon Mike East Officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Ambrose Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, also at the Burkholder Chapel.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
