LINTON – Indiana State Police are requesting the assistance of Linton residents, particularly those on the southeast side of town, in an ongoing death investigation that has escalated into a homicide inquiry. Authorities are urging anyone with security cameras, doorbell cameras, or garage recording systems to review their footage for any human activity between Saturday, June 7, at 10 p.m. and Sunday, June 8, at 2 a.m.

The investigation began early Sunday morning, June 8, at approximately 12:20 a.m., when the Linton Police and Fire Departments responded to a residential trailer fire on D Street, located southeast of the railroad tracks in Linton. Upon extinguishing the blaze, fire personnel and police officers discovered a deceased male inside the residence. First responders noted that the injuries on the victim were not consistent with a fire, prompting the Linton Police Department to secure the scene as a crime scene and contact Indiana State Police Detectives for assistance, initiating a homicide investigation. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
Acting on initial information, Linton Police Officer Cade Herndon and Detective Logan Hobbs quickly apprehended a potential suspect at a local gas station. The Linton Police Department has assured the community that there is no further threat.
The Linton Police Department is continuing to assist the Indiana State Police in this ongoing investigation.
