INDIANA – Indiana state officials announced that the state’s latest outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, has officially come to an end.
According to the Indiana State Board of Animal Health, the last confirmed case of the disease in Indiana was reported on May 2nd. An outbreak is declared over when no new infections have been detected for 28 consecutive days, and the disease has been eradicated from all affected farms.
Despite this positive development, state officials caution that a risk of bird flu still exists, as cases continue to be reported in other states.
