
BLOOMINGTON – For the third consecutive year, Bedford North Lawrence’s Braydon Patterson qualified for the state finals in the high jump during the IHSAA regional at Bloomington North on Thursday.
Patterson, who holds the school record, sailed over 6-6 to finish second in the event. The top three advanced to the state championship at North Central in Indianapolis on June 6.
The Stars finished 11th in the team competition with 18 points. Bloomington North won the title with 141.
BNL had two competitors finish just outside the qualifying requirement in their respective events. Orion Hill was fourth in the discus at 158-9, while Frank Decker was fourth in the pole vault at 14-0.
Other BNL athletes in the regional field included Luke Morris (ninth in the 110 high hurdles in 15.88 and 14th in the 300 hurdles in 43.28), Hiram Mullis (13th in the 110 hurdles in 16.53), Tucker Inman (10th in the 1600 in 4:34.57), Jonah Bailey (12th in the 1600 in 4:41.55), Ben Conner (16th in the 400 in 56.95), Tripp Stahl (ninth in the shot put at 48-4.5) and the 1600 relay of Bailey, Reece Sims, Driven Axsom and Morris (12th in 3:36.85).
Mitchell’s Aiden Swartz was 10th in the 110 hurdles in 16.05, and Nate Robertson was 12th in the discus at 141-9.
