INDIANAPOLIS – The Marion County Election Board officially launched an investigation Wednesday into a campaign advertisement for Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales, citing a potential violation of election law.

The probe, approved during the board’s afternoon meeting, will specifically examine whether Morales, a Republican, used footage from an official visit to the Marion County Election Board Service Center in his campaign ad. State law prohibits government employees from using their office to advocate for an election, which may contravene the ad in question, featuring video of Morales’s Election Day visit to the service center.
