BEDFORD- A Bedford woman has been charged with possession of methamphetamine following an incident at a local gas station.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Indiana State Police Detective Caleb B. Garvin at approximately 2:21 p.m. on April 9, Bedford Police Officer Landon Jones was called to the Marathon station in the 3000 block of Mitchell Road to check on a female, identified as 45-year-old Kristie Deckard, who was found passed out in the driver’s seat of a blue Jeep Renegade.

Officers Jones and Bryce Bower of the Bedford Police Department arrived at the scene and found Deckard unconscious but breathing in the vehicle. After several attempts, Officer Jones was able to wake Deckard. Deckard reportedly told officers she believed she was at Domino’s.
During the investigation, Deckard allegedly admitted to using Xanax and methamphetamine earlier in the day. She also said she had driven to the gas station to add air to her tires.
After a K9 unit alerted to the vehicle, a search was conducted, and officers located a clear plastic bag containing a crystal substance, believed to be methamphetamine, inside Deckard’s purse. Her identification was also found in the purse.
She was released from the scene, and the information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was detained on Tuesday, May 13 on a charge of possession of meth.
Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
