EDINBURGH – The Edinburgh Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in their investigation after an 18-year-old man was shot in the head following a weekend party.
Officers were called to the 1100 block of East Main Cross Street at approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, regarding a person who had been shot inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, they located the wounded young man, who was subsequently transported to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.
According to police reports, the victim was attending a party at a residence when a fight erupted. The 18-year-old entered his vehicle to leave the premises to avoid the altercation. As he was departing, he was shot. Police stated that the suspects fled the scene before officers arrived. No other injuries were reported.
The victim received medical treatment and has since been released from the hospital. Authorities have not yet released his name.
