BEDFORD – A Bloomington man is facing felony charges in Lawrence County after an investigation by the Indiana State Police. According to a probable cause affidavit filed on March 19, Trooper Cody R. Brown investigated the theft of a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) reported on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
A family reported to Trooper Brown that their 2018 Polaris UTV, valued at over $20,000, was stolen from their residence at 6000 Stone Crest Drive in Bedford on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Security footage of the incident was collected as part of the initial report.
The affidavit states that Trooper Brown interviewed Joshua A. McIntire, 30, of Solsberry, during the investigation. After being read his Miranda Rights, McIntire allegedly admitted taking the UTV without authorization. He reportedly told Trooper Brown that he used his employer’s truck and trailer on September 10th to transport the UTV to his brother’s residence in Greene County. McIntire also admitted to planning the theft and acting alone.

On September 15, 2024, the stolen UTV was located at McIntire’s brother’s residence in Greene County and returned to the Moores. The Moores reported that the UTV had sustained damage, including a broken fender and spray paint, which was not present the last time they used it. The estimated cost to repair the damage is over $750.
In the affidavit, Trooper Brown states that McIntire acknowledged making an “irrational decision” to take the UTV and agreed that his actions were wrong.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for McIntire’s arrest. On Saturday, May 10, he was detained on charges of theft over $750, a Level 6 felony, and criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor.
