Borden teen injured in single-vehicle crash on Voyles Road

WASHINGTON CO. – A single-vehicle collision on Voyles Road resulted in minor injuries for an 18-year-old driver from Borden, Indiana, on Friday morning.

Emergency services were dispatched to the 9000 block of Voyles Road at approximately 8:30 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies identified the driver as Violett Gordon, 18, of Borden, driving a 2009 Toyota Yaris.

According to Gordon’s statement to authorities, she was traveling northbound on Voyles Road when the passenger-side wheels of her vehicle left the edge of the pavement on the right side of the road. Gordon reported that she overcorrected, causing the Toyota Yaris to skid and travel off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree and rolled over multiple times before stopping.

Washington County Ambulance Service transported Gordon to St. Vincent Hospital in Salem. She received treatment for minor injuries and has since been released.

Lieutenant Wayne Blevins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department is the investigating officer for this incident. He was assisted at the scene by Reserve Officer Dale Adams, the Washington County Ambulance Service, and members of the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Pierce/Polk Volunteer Fire Department.
