WASHINGTON– A Washington man is facing charges after allegedly driving a school bus with 38 children and four adults on board while intoxicated. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office arrested 55-year-old Steven Truelove following an incident on Monday morning.

At approximately 9 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a school bus stuck in the median near the intersection of U.S. 50 and County Road 300 West. The bus, owned by the Diocese of Evansville Catholic Church, was reportedly transporting students and chaperones for a Washington Catholic Schools field trip.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all passengers were safely removed from the bus.
Truelove was taken to a local hospital for drug and alcohol testing. According to police reports, his blood alcohol content registered at 0.221, nearly three times Indiana’s legal limit of 0.08.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and OWI endangering. Truelove is currently being held without bond.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
