LAWRENCE CO. – The Lawrence County Highway Department, under the direction of Superintendent Brian Sowder, has released its paving schedule for the upcoming week, beginning today, May 6th, 2025.
Motorists are advised of the following road closures and paving operations:
- Today, May 6th: Davey Cox Road, from County Road 60 to Dorsett.
- Thursday, May 8th: Tunnelton Road, from the Guthrie Creek Bridge to the top of the hill (approximately 1 mile).
- Friday, May 9th: Logan-Donica Road, from Red Bridge to Donica.
- Monday, May 12th: Gas Line Road, from Washboard Road to Siebolt Road.
Paving operations are scheduled to begin around 7:00 a.m. each day, with the aim of completion by 3:00 p.m. However, the Highway Department notes that equipment may arrive at the paving locations before 7:00 a.m., and unforeseen issues may cause delays beyond the 3:00 p.m. target.
The department is asking for the community’s patience during these paving activities. They will not stop paving to allow traffic through. Weather permitting, paving will continue as scheduled each day.
The Highway Department explained that closing down the roads and completing one pass with the paver is the most efficient method of completing the work and reopening the roads promptly. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes during these closures.
